My Journey To God’s Heart for the Unborn

At the college I (Theresa) went to, there was a commons area with various booths, including one for reproductive rights. When I saw it, I remember how it seemed logical to believe in God, personally believe life began at conception, but how it was fine that others were free to choose for themselves what they thought was best. It was easy for me to use this ‘logic’ when my heart was somewhat distant and unconnected to the subject. 

Shortly after, I was introduced to IHOPKC. I often left the audio of the webstream on all night. God frequently began to wake me up in the middle of the night when someone would pray for the ending of abortion. He was beginning to connect me to His thoughts and feelings for the unborn, for parents making tough decisions, and for doctors.

In the prayer room we have red tape on the floor called “LIFE Lines.” People can stand and pray for LIFE, often praying in silence representing how the unborn cannot speak up for themselves. My Nightwatch prayer room team prayed weekly together on those LIFE Lines. Here God broke in with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to help me understand what it meant to stand for LIFE. This lead me to join the LIFE team and go pray outside one of our local abortion clinics unto today where standing for LIFE is one of my main prayer burdens.

All human’s logic, earthly wisdom, and debates can never come close to God’s wisdom. God can send His Spirit to shine light of wisdom into our hearts, giving us living understanding that can change our hearts, our thoughts, and bring us into greater alignment with His ways. 

To man’s eyes, prayer can seem weak and foolish, but it is one of the most powerful things. God hears and responds to our prayers, and He can give us His heavenly wisdom and understanding in exchange for our earthly logic. He is never finished with us. He wants to continue to bring us into full unity with His heart. Our prayers are effective and will avail much for ourselves and those we pray for.
