1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
-1 Timothy 2:1-2
A couple of months ago, I started a prayer team on the Nightwatch I am calling the President Obama Prayer Team. Those on the team are leading prayer in our corporate prayer meetings for the President. We are praying for him, his wife, kids, and his advisors at least once a night for dreams, visions, and for the knowledge of God’s will to touch their spirit (Col. 1:9-11). The prayer meetings have been powerful with specific insight from the Holy Spirit as we pray.
With the advent of the health care bill and other anti-LIFE legislation that our President is proposing, it is a very critical time to pray for him. The only answer for this man is prayer. I have found myself recently, unfortunately, speaking negative words against him. Our words have power. When we speak words against him, we are actually interceding against him. I want to lift my voice in prayer interceding to God for him so that we “may lead a peaceful and quite life”.
Serving the Crisis Pregnancy Center
Last month, we began our practicum for the Justice Program working at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center. Several years ago, after spending several months with Lou Engle in Washington, DC, the Lord spoke a clear sentence to me, “The crisis pregnancy centers in this nation are the front lines of the Pro-LIFE movement.” I am glad I am finally getting to help in a hands-on way at a Crisis Pregnancy Center. For the past few weeks, we have served the Crisis Pregnancy Center in many practical ways. This past week, we began training for helping women facing a crisis pregnancy. The training has really opened up my eyes to the complexity of the abortion issue. I did not realize all the things that weigh on a woman’s mind as she considers abortion. From the pressure of boyfriends, to the financial situations, to the shame put on women by their families, there are so many factors affecting these women. It has opened up a whole new place of compassion in intercession as I pray for these women.
Last week, we began training. The men are preparing to work with the fathers in crisis pregnancies. The women are getting trained to carry a cell phone at night to be available for anyone to call that is facing an unplanned pregnancy. Eventually, the clinic is planning to expand their hours with our help allowing our ladies to talk with these women. Please pray especially for the women in our practicum as they take on this great responsibility. We are all going to need lots of wisdom from the Lord.
