Bottom right — At the hospital this quote from the book was on the wall
A year ago, more than $30 million flowed into Missouri in support of a ballot measure that brought abortion back into our state. For many who have stood in prayer against abortion for years, the result was heartbreaking—and immediate. The very next day, Planned Parenthood filed suit in Kansas City, challenging nearly every pro-life law on the books. Two weeks ago that case was heard.
During the hearings, women from Operation Outcry came forward to testify, sharing painful stories of how abortion harmed them. Along with other intercessors from Operation Outcry and IHOPKC, I spent many hours in the courtroom praying and an hour outside in silent prayer and witness, wearing red tape over our mouths with the word LIFE written on it. Many of our ministry partners sat with these ladies in the courtroom, crying out to God silently on their behalf as they waited and as they shared. Theresa focused her prayer gatherings at IHOPKC on praying for all this, and our elderly—mobilized and resolute—lifted their voices with passion and urgency, pleading that the court would hear and honor these testimonies.
A day before this all started, God met me in a small, private moment. Recently my boys and I were sorting DVDs to upload to watch later on our smart TV. Out of more than a hundred discs, Moses picked Horton Hears a Who. Within an hour of Moses’ birth, Texas ended abortion. While still in the hospital, I noticed a quote on the wall—taken from the same story Moses had chosen: “A person is a person, no matter how small.” I stood there overwhelmed. It felt unmistakable, God was speaking quietly but clearly into this season.

Now, as Judge Zhang prepares to rule, I find myself identifying deeply with Horton in that story. I can’t un-hear what I’ve heard. I’ve heard the cries of the tiniest voices, and I cannot be silent while their lives—and the lives of women—hang in the balance. Join me in bold, persistent prayer today. Let us stand with Jesus for the babies. No matter how small.
